It is used as a source of calcium and phosphorus in animal feed, agriculture and fertilizer blends, and selected technical applications, subject to the regulations of the destination market. It is a feed and agricultural material, not a food or supplement for human consumption. Key Points - Calcium and phosphorus source: Supplies the two main minerals for skeletal development and eggshell formation in livestock and poultry. - Heat-treated: Sterilized, roasted and dried under controlled high-temperature treatment. A heat-treatment declaration is available on request. - Applications: Poultry and swine feed, selected aquafeed, and soil nutrition programs, subject to local regulations. Is Bone Meal Natural or Synthetic? Bone meal is a processed natural material made from heat-treated animal bone. It is not chemically synthesized. "Natural" describes its origin only and does not imply organic certification. Phosphorus from bone is poorly used by stomachless species such as carp, so confirm suitability with your nutritionist. 3. ###### Soil and fertilizer blends: A slow-release phosphorus and calcium source. Phosphorus from bone meal becomes available mainly in soils below pH 7. Test soil pH and phosphorus before applying. Regulatory & Safety Checks Before Buying - Heat treatment: Confirm processing conditions and request the heat-treatment declaration. - Ruminant feeding restrictions: Many markets prohibit feeding mammalian-derived animal proteins and animal-origin calcium phosphates to cattle, sheep and goats. In the US this is set by 21 CFR 589.2000; in the EU by Regulation (EC) No 999/2001, Annex IV.
